ARI – Associação Religiosa Israelita do Rio de Janeiro
Founded in 1942 by German immigrants fleeing Nazi persecution, under the leadership of Rabbi Dr. Henrique Lemle, ARI was the first liberal synagogue in Rio de Janeiro, with a rich musical tradition, especially that brought from Germany, with services accompanied by choir and organ. Based on the centrality of Zion, ARI today is an egalitarian synagogue and combines Ashkenazi and Sephardic traditions. Its pioneering role is exalted in the modernization of Jewish life, in the formation of more conscious Jews, rabbis, singers and teachers, creating a tradition of inclusion and promoting support for the State of Israel and Zionism. To this day, ARI offers integration and Judaism to a large number of families and is present in the lives of each congregant on the most varied occasions throughout their life cycle, to celebrate or provide comfort.
